Windows cannot log into the domain
Infact i was able to create users and assign to groups and then allow the client to join the domain. But still then i get this problem for which i dont have any ideas. So what does it mean? Follow Post Reply. AmberJain Expert MB. Post Reply.
Microsoft SQL Server. Cannot generate SSPI context. How to overcome the limitation: Cannot pass 'argument' as ref or out, because ' argument ' is a marshal-by-reference class.
A newly installed Windows Join domain OK. Cannot log in with any account to domain from this computer. Every try with every account gets an immediate "Wrong username or password". If I log in locally, I can authenticate to domain controller etc, with same user credentials that is "wrong" at the login screen. I've checked language input, caps lock, both wire and wireless; test accounts etcetera.
Need help fast. ETA: Also taken the computer out of and into domain again, restarted many times, reset computer account, etcetera. No difference. Better if you restart the DC. If I log in to this computer with a local account, I can to anything in the domain I wish if authenticate as a domain user, of course , so there are no DNS issues.
Meanwhile, turn off the Firewall on this client and disable the antivirus of this client to check the result. On the logon screen I clicked on "Other user" 2. I clicked on "Sign-in options" and "Microsoft account". I typed in the same Microsoft account e-mail address and the same password.
It now allowed me to log on without any problems. After rebooting I was able to log in just by typing my password as usual. Thank you for your reply. There seems to be no "Sign-in options". Note that this computer is a member of the domain, and that the users have no Microsoft accounts. I've taken the computer out of the domain, renamed in, took into the domain again, but no difference.
But logged in as a local user, I am able to authenticate against the domain and everything works domain-wise and otherwise. It only at the login screen that the instant after I click OK when logging in with a domain account I get the "wrong user name or password" message. DNS, network, everything works.
That is not the issues as far as I can see, since he computer works very well in all regards when logged in as a local user. Finally Make sure your windows machine have latest Updates.. You might need to restart your device more than once. If multiple restarts don't help, try temporarily disabling your antivirus software or any other app that might scan your device during sign-in.
Note: Some antivirus products may have additional components which affect the system and may only be disabled after complete removal and a system reboot. If you continue to experience issues signing in with your original profile, disable Windows Defender services: Open the Services app by typing services in the search box on the task bar and selecting it from the list of results.
Restart your device in normal mode and try to sign in with your original profile. Note: After troubleshooting and resolving the issue, remember to set the Windows Defender services back to Automatic. If you still can't sign in, try creating a new local administrator account , sign in to that new account, then follow the steps in Fix a corrupted user profile to copy your personal data from the old profile into the newly created one.
If you still can't sign in to your profile after these steps, we'd like to know. Please provide feedback using the Feedback Hub app on Windows 11 so that we can investigate the issue. Then I reset the password checking "user must change the password at logon". Changed the password successfully, turn off the computer disconnected from the network, turn on back and same error, was not able to login.
Then I executed the command "rundll Disconnect the computer and same problem can not login. At this point I can try removing the computer from the domain and adding it back but I did a lot of customization to the start menu and I don't want to loose it.
Anyways this seems to be a problem with the account not be properly cached. In all that I stop using the PIN or the fingerprint. I'm using the password but it says that the password is incorrect.
That's why I say that somehow the cache information seems to be corrupt. It seems that there is nothing that can be done but to wait for the next build release. I lost hours trying to fix this because the issue is not listed as one of the know problems in the Windows Insider blog. Lesson learned, next time before starting troubleshooting, I have to check the feedback hub.
If domain, reset it, if local, reset it, if email, why not login to email and see if this works, otherwise reset it. Rod-IT, it is a domain account, I already reset the password, log into the computer connected to the network domain , change the password, turn off the computer, disconnect from the network, turned it on and try o log in, same problem the password is invalid. Eeveen, thanks, I removed the computer from the domain, re-join the domain and was able to retain all custom configurations but still have the password problem when disconnected from the network.
Network access: Do not allow storage of password and credential for network authentication. Try using a diffrent account, If you do not get the same issue with another account then it is the user profile and you probably want to rebuild it. I will do it tomorrow when I get back to the office.
I did another try removing the computer from the domain but this time I didn't bring the user directory back. Then I log with the domain user and I got an different error even when connected to the network , this time the message said that Windows can not log me and that if i continue all changes will get be lost.
When I check the users directory the directory with the domain account name did not get created. Try logging in on locally or setting the machine to workgroup first.
