Control panel freezing windows 7
Yeah, I chimed in on that thread. Speed of clicking into the control panel is not a factor for me. After it hangs "not responding" , I am asked to "end process.
I also have a Dell, and a bit windows 7 operating system that is about 8 days old. I had this problem since day 1, so I think my problem is very similar to that of WayCon's. I have examined every single CPL file and four of them do nothing when I try to open them: igfxcpl bthprops irprops infocard Based on googling, I think the bthprops and irprops are bluetooth control panel devices, and the two I really was not able to discern after my search.

The green page-load indicator in the address bar moves right, stops after a moment, then Not responding shows up in title bar. After explorer restarts, control panel seems to work.
Monday, December 28, PM. Workman, My problem is identical to yours to the letter. Dell Inspiron laptop, same error the FIRST time trying to select something in Control Panel, restart of explorer after message comes up clears everything so Cp process works then.

Is there any information on what is causing this? I have seen a lot about how other software such as Norton may be responsible, but I am skeptical as nothing else has created this problem until Avast was installed. How can someone else be to blame.
