Indoor amusement games

Hula hooping is a great way for kids to get some heart-healthy exercise. Once they know the basics, they can start learning fun hula hoop tricks! Create makeshift bowling lanes with painter's tape or rolled-up blankets.

Use empty plastic bottles and balls to knock them over. Set a timer to keep them moving! When one seeker finds a hider, they work together to find other hiders. Another fun alternative is to ask one person to hide while everyone searches for that person together. Put your chairs in a circle, with one less chair than the amount of people playing. While the music plays, everyone dances or runs around the chairs. When the music stops, everyone must find a chair to sit on.

The only person who doesn't have a chair to sit on is out of the game. Whisper a single word or short phrase in the person's ear next to you. They repeat it to the person seated beside them and so forth. Once it reaches the last person, they announce the word or phrase even if it's distorted. Parents and kids dance and play together until someone calls "freeze.

Materials : Pictionary game or a pad of paper and pens, plus a timer. This well-known game is played between two people or groups. One player draws an image, while the others try to guess what they drew within the time limit. Seat everyone in a circle.

Pass a ball or potato around as music plays. When the music stops, the person holding the potato leaves the game. The last person left wins! Materials : Containers of Play-Doh or make your own and your imagination. Grab colorful balls of play-dough and watch kids' creativity shine. Teach them how to use cookie cutters, a rolling pin and decorations to make cool art projects! Use blankets, sheets, chairs, boxes and your imagination to create a fun fort with your kids. Then find ways to keep having fun with it, like telling stories or setting up a play with puppets.

Make a water and dish soap solution to blow bubbles with. Now all you need is a wand to make bubble magic! Materials : washable paints; brushes; small tub of water to rinse brushes; smooth rocks; popsicle sticks; a pad of craft paper. Materials : small amount of fabric cm in length ; thread; sewing machine; a fun sewing pattern. Kids can benefit from learning basic sewing skills, like how to sew a pincushion, a tissue holder or an adorable stuffed animal sleeping bag!

Materials : Twister board game. One referee spins the wheel and tells players where to place their hands and feet on the colored mat. Green light allows kids to move from one area to another, while red light stops them from moving. If they're caught moving during a red light, they have to go back to the starting line.

Kids stand at the starting line with a parent several feet across the room. Play a simple game of catch using ping-pong balls, soft plastic balls or other soft toys that are safe to throw inside.

Press Conference is a unique indoor game for adults that can be a fun experience for the whole family. Rules of the game suggest each player has to take turns holding a press conference as an unknown personality. The other players know the famous figure and make the player guess the correct name with questions. If the player holding the press conference gets the name right before the time is over, they win.

Taking a creative approach with the questions can add an even funnier element to this game. Pictionary is a world-famous drawing game where one player draws something, and the other team members have to guess what it is. Like playing charades with a drawing board, teams take turns and finish thinking in under a minute to score points.

You can add your twist to this game by introducing six categories and dice to make things more interesting. Even if you do not have Pictionary cards at home, you can easily DIY and customize them to suit your group.

Pop that balloon is one of the best indoor games for high-energy teens and kids to experience exhilarating fun. It is like a relay race but with balloons instead of batons. Once the balloons are inflated and placed at a distance, we can begin. One player from each team takes their place at the starting line.

At go time, the players have to run to the balloons and burst one of their team colors with their hands, feet, or butt before they can run back and tag their partner to blast another. The team that bursts all its colors first wins. React and act is one of the funniest ice breaking indoor games for families and friends. According to the rules, one player randomly picks up a scenario from a hat and reacts to it using words, actions, and expressions.

Other players have to guess what the situation could be before the stipulated time ends. The situations can be related to anything but should be common enough to guess. Additionally, it is great fun watching people go through various facial expressions in such a short amount of time.

Well, we all have. But, before you write off this gem from this list as traditional and boring, wait for the twist. The rules may be the same, but this time, the roles are reversed. The rule flip allows for one guesser and multiple team members to act out the same suggestion. Just imagining the situation is enough to generate chuckles; imagine how much fun playing it would be.

Story Starters is a fantastic indoor game choice for hyper imaginative nerds and everyday gossip queens. The kids love them! They are learning turn-taking, visualizing, and strategic thinking. Many of these new learning games also involve turn-taking and problem solving, like Jenga and Magic Labyrinth.

A few of the games are cooperative so that kids work together to achieve a goal, like Outfoxed and Race to the Treasure. IceCool2 will align so well with our science unit on Force and Motion, and Planet will align with our life sciences unit.

First graders love to play, and these new games will allow them more choices so that they can continue to learn while they play.
